Job Summary
Reporting to the Direction of Development the Program Manager will be responsible for the overall day to day management,
coordination, and implementation of a range of prevention-based programs for families of the Bearspaw First Nation. This role
involves strategic planning, staff supervision, program evaluation, and community outreach to ensure the effective delivery of
services so that families remain intact and prevent child protection services involvement.


Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leadership: Build and mentor a strong team of diverse professionals, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment.
Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation.
• Program Oversight: Manage and oversee the daily operations of prevention-based programs, ensuring they meet
established goals and objectives. Evaluate all programs and services to identify risk and work with the director and other
members of the leadership team to address any concerns.
• Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise program staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and
supportive team environment. Recognize the strengths of team members to nurture their potential.
• Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with families, including children and youth to provide meaningful and
effective programs and services to keep families together.
• Strategic Planning: Work with the Director of Development to develop and implement strategic plans for program growth
and sustainability.
• Budget Management: Monitor program budgets, ensuring financial resources are used effectively and efficiently.
• Program Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using data to inform continuous improvement and report
to stakeholders.
• Community Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with community partners and other stakeholders as appropriate,
to promote program participation and support.
• Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices. This will include ensuring
all programs comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on program activities, outcomes, and impact for presentation to Nation
leadership and other stakeholders.


Education, Skills & Qualifications:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field is helpful.
Equivalencies such as work experience and life experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in a First Nations setting. Experience with
prevention-based programs and working with families is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Bearspaw First Nation culture, traditions, and history.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to build and maintain effective community partnerships.
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in data management and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to develop creative and effective solutions to client issues.
• Make informed and timely decisions in the best interest of clients.
• Apply trauma-sensitive principles in all interactions.
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding


Employment Conditions and Work Environment:
• A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon
commencement of employment.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License, reliable vehicle, and clear driver’s abstract.
• This position will oversee programs in both Mînî Thnî and Eden Valley.
Hours of Work
• Full-Time, typically Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with some evening and weekend work required.
