Job Summary:
Reporting to the Foster Kinship Care Supervisor, Foster Kinship Care Support Worker will be required to provide
supervision and support to foster and kinship homes and caregivers to maximize their ability to provide quality care to
the children under Stoney Nakoda Child & Family Services. The support worker will also be responsible for licensing
foster homes and recruiting kinship homes to ensure standards and policies are adhered too.


Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct intake responsibilities to recruiting and opening Foster and Kinship homes.
• Adhere to the Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act Section Residential Facilities Licensing Regulation.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with families and communities.
• Keeping caregivers informed and creating opportunities which allow children in care to have meaningful input
into their plans.
• Provide both foster kinship caregivers training to prospective caregivers and approved foster and kinship homes.
• Knowledge of foster care licensing regulations, policies, and standards.
• Knowledge of Kinship care intake details, policies, and standards.
• Conducting home visits to caregivers and providing support for a successful foster kinship care home setting.

Education, Skills & Qualifications:
• Family Supports for Children
with Disabilities Act
• Drug Endangered Children Act
• Protection Against Family
Violence Act
• Protection of Children Abusing
Drugs Act
• Charter of Rights and Freedom
• MSW or a BSW and/or some related experience working with families and community.
• A related university degree or diploma plus several years of related experience working with families and
children can be considered.
• CWD Delegation Training an asset but will provide training if need be.
• Knowledge of the Stoney-Nakoda Culture and traditions; ability to speak Stoney considered a strong asset.
• Microsoft Word and Basic Computer skills.
• Strong interviewing and assessment skills in addition to excellent problem-solving, mediation and conflict
resolution skills.
• Effective communicator (both verbal and written)
• Must be well organized and have time management.
