Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Clerk is a highly fast-paced visible position that is responsible for supporting accounting operations by recording/ reconciling and maintaining accounting/business transactions. Verify the accuracy of accounting documents or records.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

Treasury

  • Ensure all bank reconciliations are processed efficiently and according to policies and procedures
  • Ensure all deposits are processed efficiently and according to policies and procedures
  • Ensure all accounts receivable are processed efficiently and according to policies and procedures
  • Report to supervisor for any discrepancies found
  • Download monthly bank statements and upload them to Xyntax in a timely fashion
  • Responsible for Bank inquiries, and timely resolution of issues
  • Coordinate with permit manager, Liaisons and business to record and bill them for reimbursement
  • Ensure internal control process is followed
  • Monitor & support other Team members in managing cheque runs/sending EFT payment files
  • Reconcile and perform variance analysis for all bank accounts statements and related issues
  • Maintain a well-organized work area
  • Understand the importance of thoroughness in accounting process
  • Maintain proper accounting filing records
  • Assist with the Year-End process
  • Other duties as required and requested by the supervisor
  • Cross training in all accounting departments to ensure adequate coverage of office positions

Skills, Qualifications & Education:

  • Accounting related experience or accounting certificate an asset
  • Knowledge in Xyntax Native Systems an asset
  • Must be computer oriented
  • Basic Excel knowledge is required
  • Conscientious attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment
  • An ability to work with minimum supervision and in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-developed organization skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain strict adherence to the nation’s policies and processes especially for confidentiality
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Bookkeeping certification and experience required
  • Post-secondary education in accounting /business preferred

Employment Conditions

  • Ability to obtain a clean criminal record check
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Must sign and maintain a strict confidentiality agreement

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced office environment
  • Shared office space
  • Monday through Friday, 7 hours a day
